The Kuro Custom Audio T120 is based off of a Matamp GT120 from the 70’s. This is a very versatile pedal, and it is pretty popular in the doom metal community (much like the amp it is modeled after). The T120 has a four stage drive knob (low gain, low gain with high pass, high gain, and high gain with high pass), and a six position depth knob. This demo will focus on the depth knob, which is more than a simple resonance control. The depth knob has 6 notched positions, and takes you from very tight to massive. This depth knob is a serious selling point for this pedal, and allows your to get a huge sound for direct in recording. I will be shooting a demo with a mic’d up amp and cab soon, but I was very impressed with how lively this pedal was when I ran it through my direct in setup. This was recorded direct in using a Les Paul Classic Custom with a Wolftone Fenris in the bridge. The Kuro T120 was run into a Two Notes Torpedo CAB with their NOS V30 impulse. Mic simulations used were a blend of an MD421 and an SM57. This was run into Studio One 3 without any additional eq or plugins. This pedal is much more than a simple doom machine, and I don’t want to shortsell it’s other uses. However, it happens to do the doom sound VERY well.
