A tragic road accident occurred late last night on the Sangrur–Sunam Road in Punjab, resulting in the death of a 45-year-old truck driver on the spot. The accident happened when two heavily loaded trucks collided head-on with each other. According to police officials, one truck carrying flour was traveling from Sunam towards Sangrur, while another truck loaded with potatoes was coming from Sangrur towards Sunam. Due to the powerful impact of the collision, the driver of the flour-loaded truck died instantly. The deceased has been identified as Phoola Singh (around 45 years old), son of Jumma Singh, a resident of Sunam. After the accident, the body of the driver had to be cut out from the damaged truck cabin due to the severe impact of the crash. SHO Jaswinder Kaur informed the media that the police received information about the fatal accident late at night. A police team immediately reached the spot and started rescue operations. After the collision, sacks of flour and potatoes were scattered all over the road, causing a major traffic jam in the area. With the help of local residents and the police team, the road was cleared and traffic movement was restored. SHO Jaswinder Kaur also appreciated the efforts of the police team and local people who helped manage the situation and clear the road. This tragic incident has once again raised concerns about road safety and heavy vehicle traffic on busy highways in Punjab.
