Symptoms include shortness of breath, chest tightness, wheezing and a recurrent cough that produces large amounts of mucus. While emphysema has no cure, treatments and lifestyle changes can help those with the disease feel better, stay more active and slow the disease’s progress. Pulmonologist Amit K. Mahajan, MD lead a presentation about a new treatment option, called bronchoscopic lung volume reduction (BLVR), which places tiny endobronchial valves in the lungs.
