Ellen Foley (born June 5, 1951, in St. Louis, Missouri) is an American singer and actress best known for her powerful voice and theatrical stage presence. She rose to international fame as the female vocalist on Meat Loaf’s iconic 1977 duet “Paradise by the Dashboard Light”, delivering the dramatic "stop right there!" segment that became a rock classic. In 1979, Foley launched her solo career with the album Night Out, produced by Ian Hunter and Mick Ronson. Its standout single “What’s a Matter Baby” (a cover of a Timi Yuro song) became a major hit in the Netherlands (No. 5), Belgium (No. 6), and Austria (No. 8). It also charted modestly in the US, reaching No. 92. She followed up with the single “We Belong to the Night” which you can also watch on our Toppop-channel.
