On July 31, we listened to a lecture entitled "Fables of Accelerationism" by Kazys Varnelis, an architectural historian, artist, and researcher from the United States, at the NAI reading room. The author presented seven speculative tales created "in collaboration with artificial intelligence," combining architectural theory, fantastic stories, and visual works created by artificial intelligence in order to explore the influence of rapidly developing technologies in the modern world. He recalled the radical architectural criticism of the late 1960s, adapting its speculative and ambiguous methods to the era of artificial intelligence. ▞▞▚▞▝ ▚▐ Kazys Varnelis opened our event season strong and with high spirits, but it didn’t end there. Our first season includes names like with Tony Fretton, Fala Atelier, Oxana Gourinovitch, and others. The NAI reading room aims to set the tone for intellectual, socially responsible, and critical architecture in the public sphere, both locally and internationally. Therefore, the event program gives priority to dialogue between Lithuanian and international architects and thinkers, encourages questioning, evaluating, and reflecting on the field of architecture today, and chooses to publicize architectural practices based on intellectually sound methodologies. ▞▞▚▞▝ ▚▐ NAI / Reading Room Kęstučio g. 19-3, Kaunas, Lithuania Wednesday – Friday 10:00 – 16:30
