I learned an expensive lesson - DON'T REMOVE THE SHORE POWER CORD WHEN IT'S UNDER LOAD! In my case, the cord was accidentally kicked out while plugged into the boat. I had the Inverter Charger on as well as the hot water tank and a ceramic heater. When the cord got knocked out, there was a spark and quite a bit of smoke - I was lucky it didn't start a fire! I have learned to secure the shore end of the cord to the outlet with a bungee or string in the future. Fortunately, the repair was fairly easy and not too expensive. I just needed a few simple tools to replace the locking plug and decided to add a weatherproof cover as well.
