It sits on the banks of the vast Murray River, with its paddle steamers and houseboats. Wine bars and restaurants cluster on Langtree Avenue, and wineries dot the surrounding area. Discovery Park Mildura/Buronga Riverside is positioned right on the Murray River, a tranquil and peaceful getaway just 10 minutes from the heart of Mildura, with rare uninterrupted river views for you to enjoy. With the Murray on your doorstep and the outback close by, the park provides an ideal destination for you to explore this vivid area. Jump on a day cruise aboard the PS Melbourne, sample some of the region's best food and wine, or get back to nature and explore the unique outback areas of Mungo National Park and the Murray-Sunset National Park. Woodsies Gem Shop is a family-owned and operated business 10 mins from Mildura. Its showroom boasts timeless jewelry, exquisite gemstones, beautiful carvings, gifts and much more. There’s a Cave-Inn restaurant and Little Gem Cafe. Family attractions include Aladdin's Cave - a walk-through display of gemstones sourced internationally in the Woods' family private collection. ($2 adults, $1 children) There is the Garden Crazy Maze - a maze that covers nearly a hectare. Try your luck to beat the 1min 39sec record set by a local student. Allow approximately 30-45 minutes! ($2 adults, $1 children) Vanden Estate Winery Go and experience their cellar door with a wine tasting amongst the vineyards located just minutes from Mildura. Their wines are available to taste from 10am – 5pm Wednesday, Thursday & Sunday and from 10am to 6pm Friday & Saturday. You can sample wine varieties over a cheese platter, trio of dips or even a pizza. The expansive lawned area provides a relaxing space to sit and enjoy lunch and a glass of wine whilst having plenty of room for the kids to play. They also offer coffee and light snacks. Old Wentworth Gaol, Beverley Street, Wentworth NSW 2648 The Old Wentworth Gaol is the oldest of the Australian designed gaols. It was built during 1879-1881 and operated until 1927. Inside the Gaol are the stocks, original items and gaol equipment on display. Of all old Gaols in Australia, it is the Wentworth Gaol that is acknowledged as the one in its best original condition. Opening times: 10am - 5pm Daily (Closed Christmas Day) Orange World is a working 50-acre citrus property offering educational and informative citrus tours around the picturesque property of avocado trees, numerous citrus varieties and tree grafting areas. Their tour includes a train tour with guided commentary through the orchard and avocado canopy, look out tower, nursery talk, orange tastings, and free cup of freshly squeezed juice. Operated and managed by Mildura Rural City Council, Mildura Arts Centre is the creative hub of the Sunraysia region. Located just a stone’s throw from the banks of the Murray River, Mildura Arts Centre is home to a 444 seat performing arts theatre, art gallery, Rio Vista Historic House, sculpture park and licensed cafe. MAC also runs a range of ongoing cultural programs for everybody. Lake Tyrrell is a unique salt lake located 7kms north of Sea Lake. The Lake environment is host to Mallee reptiles, kangaroos, emus, white-faced chats, and an inland gullery. To get to Lake Tyrrell, which is Victoria's largest salt lake covering 20,860 hectares, head north on the Calder Highway and it's well signposted on your right-hand side.
