Since we have interviews everyone in our family now for Meet the Family Mondays, I thought that you might like to hear our adoption stories. We have adopted 4 different times and our first adoption was of JoHanna Grace from Hunan, China. Unlike most adoptive parents, Phil and I did not know very much about adoption or feel called to adopt early in our marriage. The first couple that we knew that did an international adoption, were some friends from church who adopted a little girl from Guatamala. Several years later we moved to VA, outside of Washington DC. We were privileged to live close to Phil's cousin who adopted a little girl from Russia. They used America World Adoption Agency. Soon it was time for us to move again, and we moved to Texas. At our church in Texas, our children's pastor and his wife, were very involved in foster care. We were in small group with them so we got a chance to walk through some of the highs and lows of foster care. We also tried to get approved to do foster care through CPS, but because of several complications, we decided not to do foster care to adopt. A few months later, we were sitting behind a Chinese-American family and we started talking about the possibility of international adoption. We felt like God was leading us to adopt from China. We applied to America World and started the adoption process to get a little baby girl from China.
