This was never supposed to become more than a university project. I only wanted to write about internet folklore. “Smile Dog” was just one of many myths, until I contacted Mary. She was terrified. She begged me to stop researching, to forget the name, to never look at the image. A week later, she was gone. Her husband called me crying. He said he burned the floppy disk, and that it hissed like an animal while it melted. He told me to delete everything. I didn’t. Now I can’t sleep. Every time I close my eyes I see the dog’s grin and the room behind it. It’s not a picture anymore , it’s something alive. It’s waiting for me to do what Mary didn’t. I’m uploading this because I don’t have a choice anymore. If I share it, maybe it stops. Maybe the dreams will end. Spread the Word.
