Al-Baqara, alternatively transliterated Al-Baqarah (Arabic: الْبَقَرَة, ’al-baqarah; lit. "The Heifer" or "The Cow"), is the second and longest chapter (surah) of the Quran.[1] It consists of 286 verses (āyāt) which begin with the "muqatta'at" letters alif (ا), lām (ل), and mīm (م).[2][3] Q2:282 is the longest single verse in the Quran. One of its major benefits is that it protects you from Shaitan (Satan). Reciting surah al-Baqarah daily will protect us from anyone who wishes us harm, the evil eye, and witchcraft. Abu Hurairah narrated that the Prophet (peace and blessing be upon him) said: “Satan runs away from the house in which Surah Baqarah is recited.” Also, there are many hadiths about the significance of reading the last two verses. Abu Mas’ud Al-Badri narrated: I heard the Prophet (peace and blessing be upon him) saying, “He who recites the two Ayat [verses] at the end of Surat Al Baqarah at night, they will suffice him. “ It is said that one of the benefits of Surah Baqarah for 40 days helps get rid of the devils and evil eyes from the house. Reciting Surah Baqarah daily holds rewards for us on the Day of Judgment. Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessing be upon him) said: “Recite the Quran, for on the Day of Resurrection it will come as an intercessor for those who recite It. Recite the two bright ones, al-Baqarah, and Surah Al ‘Imran, for on the Day of Resurrection they will come as two clouds or two shades, or two flocks of birds in ranks, pleading for those who recite them. Recite Surah al-Baqarah, to take recourse to it is a blessing and to give it up is a cause of grief, and the magicians cannot confront it.” The prophet taught us about the benefits of Surah Baqarah when reciting the last two verses in the night and said: “Whoever recites the last two verses of Surah al-Baqarah by night that will suffice him” The prophet (peace and blessing be upon him) said the following about Reading surah Baqarah, for 3 days in the night: “Indeed Allah wrote in a book two thousand years before He created the heavens and the earth, and He sent down two Ayahs (verses) from it to end Surah al Baqarah with.
