Military and Financial Aid: Latin American leaders, most notably Simón Bolívar, sought help from Haiti. In 1815, Bolívar went to Haiti, and its president, Alexandre Pétion, provided him with soldiers, weapons, and supplies. Conditional Support: Haiti's support came with a specific condition: Bolívar had to agree to emancipate enslaved people in the territories he liberated.
