On my second full day in Pontianak, Indonesia, I ventured to the city's most 'touristy' spot—its Waterfront. Conveniently located just a block from my hostel, it was an easy walk. By day, the Waterfront has a laid-back vibe, but you can tell it's seen better times. The promenade is lined with houses that hang over the edge, and some tiles are missing—I even tripped over one! 😅 Still, the view of the majestic Kapuas River (Indonesia’s longest) with its iconic bridge is worth a visit. At night, though, the scene transforms completely. The once quiet stretch becomes alive with people, street food vendors, families, and kids riding bikes.
