In this video, I head to Owlet Wood in Lincolnshire with my Olympus EM1 Mark II and the 40–150mm f/4.0–5.6 lens to see what kind of wildlife shots I can capture. This lens is lightweight and affordable, but when you’re pushing it to its longest focal length, image quality can really start to drop. So, this was all about trying to get the best out of it and seeing what’s possible with careful technique and a bit of patience. While I didn’t come away with any award-winning shots, I did manage to photograph a Great Spotted Woodpecker and a Long-tailed Tit, along with other woodland favourites like Blue Tits, Chaffinches, Nuthatches, and Robins. At Owlet Wood, the birds have a habit of circling through the woodland, checking for feeding stations. I spent some time in the furthest hide, where other photographers had kindly put out food to encourage the birds to come closer — which made for a lovely, relaxed session of wildlife watching and testing the lens in real conditions. Even though the results weren’t perfect, the experience was a great reminder that wildlife photography is as much about enjoying the moment as it is about getting the shot. 🎥 Gear Used: • Olympus OM-D EM1 Mark II • M.Zuiko 40–150mm f/4.0–5.6 R 📍 Location: Owlet Wood, Lincolnshire If you enjoy these kinds of field tests and honest looks at real-world gear performance, don’t forget to like, comment, and subscribe for more photography adventures around the UK! #OlympusEM1MarkII #WildlifePhotography #BirdPhotography #Lincolnshire #OwletWood #MicroFourThirds #MFTPhotography #OlympusPhotography #Woodpecker #LongTailedTit #NaturePhotography -------- Social ------- / dawleylad
