At Least 20 Dead in Afghan Mosque Attack

(25 Aug 2017) FOR CLEAN VERSION SEE STORY NUMBER: 4112651 & 4112663 Police say the hours-long attack at a Shiite Muslim mosque in the Afghan capital Kabul has ended with all four attackers dead. Afghan Police Special Forces Unit commander, General Sayed Mohammad Roshandil said all four attackers were killed by their forces. Roshandil said the death toll wasn't immediately known but a hospital official says at least 20 killed and 50 were wounded in the attack. The mosque was packed with worshippers attending Friday prayers. Friday is the Muslim sabbath when worshippers usually attend prayers at the mosque. Mohammad Salim Rasouli, chief of Kabul's hospitals, said the death toll could rise because many of the wounded were seriously hurt.
