Understanding how to apply modern ninjutsu for self defense is something that every ninjutsu practitioner should understand at a very deep level. Being able to take traditional ninjutsu techniques and adapting them towards modern self defense situations should be one of the most talked about subjects in a ninja dojo. . In the historical records of the ninja, there is a document called the Shoninki. It was written in 1681 by Natori Masatake. In this text, he documents 6 tools of the ninja and how the ninja would use these tools on a mission. The 6 Tools of the Ninja are called the Shinobi Rokugu (忍び六具), also known as the Shinobi Rokuki. These 6 Tools are: . (01) Amigasa (編笠) Straw Hat (02) Kaginawa (鉤縄) Grappling Hook (03) Sekihitsu (石筆) Slate Pencil (04) Kusuri (薬) Field Medicine (05) Sanjaku Tenugui (三尺手拭) 3 foot Cloth (06) Uchitake (打竹) Fire Starter . Clearly these 6 items that a ninja would carry could easy be adapted to a modern hat, belt, ink pen, first aid kit, bandana and a lighter. . The same concepts that the ninja used when they had to learn how to fight, learn how to punch and learn how to survive can also be updated and utilized to fit in the modern day. . This lesson is directly for those training in the traditional Japanese martial arts and self-defense techniques of the ninja and samurai, such as ninjutsu (ninpo) and bujutsu (budo). . #Ninjutsu #MartialArts #SelfDefense - Soke Anshu Christa Jacobson; Headmistress of the Budo Ryu Kai (a.k.a Budo Ryu Ninjutsu Dojo), is one of the most sought after instructors in the traditional and eclectic martial traditions. She is a member of the World Martial Arts Hall of Fame and is said to be the only non-Japanese to receive a Menkyo Kaiden (The highest level license that exist in Japanese martial arts) and Sokeship (inheritor / grandmaster) of a koryu bujutsu / ninjutsu tradition. . In 2004 she wanted to bring back the tradition of Japanese Bujutsu, something that she felt has been lost in the modern world. To do this she established the Budo Ryu Kai, meaning School of the Warrior Way. . The Budo Ryu Kai (Budo Ryu Ninjutsu) was developed by her personal research, training, experience, as well as the collection of seven Japanese warrior traditions (also called Nana Musha-den) and combining all of these facets into a way to fully develop one’s mind, body and spirit as one. . Budo Ryu Ninjutsu is Soke Anshu Christa Jacobson's modern approach towards the study of ancient samurai & ninja warfare. The seven warrior arts that are taught within the Budo Ryu Kai are: . Koka Ryu Kempo (甲賀流拳法) Tenjin Ryū Jujutsu (天神流柔術) Tomo Ryu Shinobijutsu (戸猛流忍術) Eishin-ryū Iaijutsu (英信流居合術) Koto Ryu Koppojutsu (虎倒流骨法術) Gyokko-Ryū Kosshijutsu (玉虎流骨指術) Togakure-ryū Ninpo Taijutsu (戸隠流忍法体術) - Checkout Our Merch Here: https://teespring.com/stores/budo-ryu...
