The 162nd Battle of Olustee Saturday Battle

The Battle of Olustee, was fought on February 20, 1864 when Union troops from Jacksonville lead by, Brigadier General Truman Seymour as they advanced to the East side of Olustee heading west, they was encountered by the local Confederate forces as Seymour makes his attempt to push the force back out of Olustee which was a unsuccessful move as the Union side gained high casualties the Union lost this battle and was unable to take Lake City. This was the largest ever battle fought on Florida Soil and one of the bloodiest battles of the American Civil War.
