This video provides the detailed instructions with wiring diagram for the installation of a custom gate magnetic lock system including a complete battery backup, WiFi on/off remote control, wireless keypad entry, and button remote control. I wasn't able to find a good single source of information on such magnetic lock installs so after I was able to compile all the needed components to do this complete build, I wanted to share this information such that it might help someone else trying to do such an install. Update after almost 1 yr of use: The lock and system works great... Very robust and reliable after much use and even going through many storms with power failures. But here's a couple of comments to consider in your application after almost a year of use. 1) The battery backup I've shown works just fine, but only for several hours. If you have a long power outage of, say, 6-8 hours or more, the gate will eventually de-energize. You would need to get bigger batteries to have a longer resilience time against outages. AND, after a long power outage whereby the system de-energizes, you'll need to reset the system by cutting off the AC power supply (i.e., unplugging the power supply) and disconnecting the batteries; then simply reconnect the batteries and plug back in the power supply. This resets the system. 2) On the wiring diagram of the WiFi on/off control module switch that I have shown in the video it is wired in the "NO" (normally open) position. This means you turn the WiFi switch on to trigger and close the circuit. While this works fine and I've had no problems, I wired my son's gate up using this design but put the WiFi switch wiring to the "NC" (normally closed) position whereby he must turn the WiFi switch on to actually de-energize the magnetic lock. I know this is somewhat counterintuitive, but I think I actually like this wiring better (i.e., to the NC position). Try it both ways and see what you like. The parts list for the project are as follows: 1. Linear MDKP Keypad - Multicode format. I ordered my first one on Ebay for $100 +/-. They normally run closer to $200 each as can be found from various sources online. The second one I got was for $200 on Ebay. 2. Linear MGR 1-channel receiver. This will handle up to 40 different transmitters. I got it for $40 online, many sources. 3. Linear ACT-31B 1-Channel Block Coded Key Ring Transmitter. $17 also online, many sources. 4. Outdoor 800 lb. HF 12V/24V Gate Magnetick Lock With Dual Voltage & Monitoring WWP800EXT-ABP; Item# FAS-WWP800EXT-ABP. This is the magnetic lock I got from fastaccesssecurity.com for $100. You can also access their equipment from Magneticlocks.net. 5. Altronix 6062 Timer Module 12/24VDC Operation; Item# ALT-6062. This is the $24 module required to allow the gate to be open for a set number of seconds and it also controls the buzzer during the time the magnetic lock is de-energized. 6. Thread Adapter, M20 Male to 1/2" NPT Female, Metallic. This is the threaded adapter which will fit to the 20mm botton of the magnetic lock above and will then adapt to fit a standard 1/2" fitting or conduit. I got this adapter from galco.com for $9. Item Number M20-1/2 at www.galco.com. 7. SingPad 24 Volt DC Waterpoof LED Power Supply Driver Transformer with 3-Prong Plug, 60Watt IP67 Driver for Outdoor Use. This is the power supply as will be required for the system. Got it from Amazon.com for $27. 8. RuiLing 2pcs DC 3-24V Active Piezo Buzzer with Lead Wire 2312 High Decibels Continuous Sounder Electronic Buzzer Alarm 23x12mm. At amazon.com for $6 for two. 9. 20A Solar Charge Controller Solar Panel Battery Intelligent Regulator with Dual USB Port 12V/24V PWM Auto Adjustable LCD Display. This is the charge controller for the backup batteries I'm using. $15 at amazon.com. 10. ML7-12 - 12 VOLT 7.2 AH SLA BATTERY - Mighty Max Battery brand product, black. I've got two of these batteries to put in series to form the 24VDC battery backup. At amazon.com for $18 each or $36 for both. 11. Sonoff Wifi Switch, DC5V 12V 24V 32V Wireless Relay Module Smart Home Automation Module. This is the wifi control module that I got to remotely turn off the whole system with your iPhone or Android. At Amazon.com for $18. 12. Enclosure box for whole system. I used the following from Amazon for $58. https://www.amazon.com/Dustproof-Elec.... 13. Misc. items as purchased at Home Depot. These include the metal and flexible conduits, fittings, single gang box, box cover, receptacle, wire, etc. These will total around $150 when all said and done.
