A therapeutic intervention is an effort to help someone in need who declines treatment or is otherwise unable to help themselves. In some cases, an intervention takes the form of a meeting between the person engaged in self-destructive behavior and concerned friends or family members, sometimes in a confrontational manner. Other cases may not be confrontational, as in the case of concerned family members attempting to help an individual unable to make decisions for themselves.
