I am honored to share with you a timeless masterpiece from the Southern Song Dynasty, "瀟湘水雲" (Mist and Clouds Over the Xiang River), composed by the esteemed musician 郭楚望 (Guo Chuwang). About the Score: This performance follows two historical sources: The simplified notation from "古琴考级曲集" (Guqin Grading Collection) The staff notation from "虞山吴氏琴谱" (Yushan Wu Family Qin Manuscript), which preserves Wu Jinglue's interpretation About the Piece: "Mist and Clouds Over the Xiang River" is a celebrated guqin composition that beautifully captures the serene and ethereal landscape of the Xiao and Xiang Rivers. This piece is renowned for its delicate and evocative melodies, which transport listeners to a tranquil world of natural beauty and profound reflection. About the Composer: 郭楚望 (Guo Chuwang), a patriot and guqin master from the Southern Song Dynasty, is revered for his contributions to the Zhejiang genre of guqin music. His compositions, including "瀟湘水雲," are cherished for their emotional depth and artistic excellence.
