After filming the three elevators (L1-L3) last February, it's time to check out the fourth elevator of Panin Tower aka elevator L4, which is located right behind them! And just like the other three cars I've filmed before this one also used to run with conventional system (along with elevator L5 next door) before it got upgraded with PORT destination dispatch in 2023. Note that elevators L1 to L4 now run in a set. And now here's the interesting part. While the three cars at the front are Schindler 500 P, this particular elevator is actually a Schindler 300 P, meaning that two different models are now running in the same control with PORT. This explains why the door sills, car layout and interior are different from the 500 P cars. It also runs slightly slower. Previously both elevator L4 and L5 used to run in a set but after the PORT upgrade, elevator L4 now runs in the same control along with elevators L1-L3 while elevator L5 now runs individually with conventional system as it didn't receive a PORT upgrade. It is now used as a service elevator and still runs with its existing Miconic TX-GC controller, completely separated from the PORT elevators. Now that's an interesting setup isn't it? I'm assuming the management needed an extra elevator for the public so they decided to integrate elevator L4 with elevators L1-L3 with PORT. A simple summary of the past and present setup would be like this: • Before: L1-L2-L3 | L4-L5 • After: L1-L2-L3-L4 (PORT) | L5 (non-PORT) While this is a pretty interesting setup, the drawback of it is that it can cause confusion when the system assigns people to elevator L4 due to its secluded location, not knowing where it is. The lobbies also lack signs that direct people to that particular elevator which is unfortunate. As I've mentioned before, this tower was originally planned to be a Sofitel hotel but due to structural factor the plan was shelved and the tower has been converted into offices since then. Because of this, floors above 7 require an access card but you can still ride these elevators freely between B2 and 7 only, the latter currently houses a health club. Meanwhile, SCTV Tower in the same superblock has also PORT upgrades but that building is generally not accessible to the public since almost the entire building is occupied by a television station.
