Seiko “Professional” diver’s technology - L gaskets, crystal retaining rings & why HEV aren’t needed

Seiko and Grand Seiko divers watches that say "Professional" on the dial or case back utilize a special technology - only available from Seiko/GS - to ensure that the watch remains suitable for Saturation Diving applications. In this video I explain what saturation diving is, why it presents special challenges to a divers watch independent of water resistance, and how Seiko/GS confronted these special challenges. I will show you an actual Seiko L-Gasket, a threaded crystal retaining ring, and how they fit together. Also, I will show some diagrams from Seiko that clearly explain how this technology works, all in terms a non-diver and a lay person can understand.
