American Pie - Don McLean 1st place. Fantastic song, and the last song in the game. We made it. This song holds a lot of sentimental value with me. This song was released as the "last" DLC for RB3 on April 2nd, 2013. "The day the music died." April 2nd was thought of as the end of Rock Band, and it really was for a while. That DLC release was the end Harmonix's streak of 275 consecutive weeks of releasing DLC. Rock Band Network still had a couple releases after that, but Rock Band was basically considered a dead franchise. Not many people anticipated a Rock Band 4 to ever be released, as rhythm games were really at an all-time-low at the time. This song reinvigorated my passion for GH and RB. Some of you might have seen my Run to the Hills video from April of 2013. I explain in the description that I "got all sentimental about Rock Band and Guitar Hero," after American Pie was released. That video, and many other videos I put out in a similar timeframe, wouldn't have happened without this song being released as the "last" DLC for RB3. I was far more interested in other games at the time. My interest in GH and RB was at an all-time-low, and I thought I was just moving on to other games and leaving behind GH and RB. Like GH and RB defined my 2006-2010 years, MW2, Black Ops, MW3, Black Ops 2 defined my 2010-2013 years. But in an almost contradictory way, American Pie releasing as DLC in RB3 gave me a reason to play these games again. I played through RB1 and RB2, completing all my left over songs I needed for respective FGFC's (minus GG&HT of course). I started going for an FGFC of GH2, my favorite GH game of all time. I FC'd Jordan for the first time, and that was a massive accomplishment for me. In the description of that video, I described it as "Every Guitar Hero player's dream, and I just accomplished (it)." I kept working towards my FGFC, FCing Beast and the Harlot, Hangar 18, and I even bought a swap magic so I could FC Trogdor. It was safe to say I was enjoying playing these games again. But that was short-lived. I achieved what I considered my best gaming accomplishment to date, an FGFC of GH2. It was unfathomable to me just a few years prior that I would ever be able to FC every song in GH2, but I did it. My brief renaissance with GH and RB was basically over, and I continued exploring other games. I got big into PC gaming in 2014, and that eventually led me to playing GH3 customs. As a young child, I thought it was the coolest thing ever, being able to put whatever song I wanted to into GH. Now that I had a good PC and the tools to allow me to put customs into GH3, of course I had to live out my childhood dream of playing custom GH songs. I downloaded all my favorite charts from videos I had watched. I was hooked again. Fast forward to spring of 2015 when RB4 was announced. I was incredibly hyped. Rock Band was finally making a comeback after what felt like an eternity. I was gonna come back and relive the glory days of RB. I was so excited about RB4 that I bought an Elgato HD60 capture card with the intention to record gameplay of every single song in the game, 100% FC'd if possible. I wanted to be the first to do upload ever song. I wanted my videos to be the first to show up in the search results when you typed in "Rock Band 4 (song)", because of course everyone and their mother was gonna be searching for Rock Band 4 videos, it was gonna be incredibly popular again! Well, RB4 didn't really live up to my high hopes, but I did do what I set out to do: upload an FC of every song in the game. I FC'd every single song in less than 48, being the first documented person in the world to FGFC Rock Band 4 on expert guitar. That made me want to upload videos of my other favorite GH and RB games. And here we are today. Basically, this song is very special to me because it made me enjoy playing these games again. It set off a chain of events that has led me here, and I'm very happy with where I am now on YouTube. After uploading RB4, I wanted to upload videos of old GH games, purely out of nostalgia and the desire to provide high-quality videos of my favorite songs in the games for other people feeling nostalgic about their old favorite game. My original mission is almost complete, and it's starting to feel bittersweet. 1st place btw ;) In the following few days I'll be uploading a couple filler videos. Power Gig, a GHWT DLC that was requested, and a few external audio videos bc copyright. Afterward, I'll be starting to upload the AC/DC Live Track Pack. Forewarning, AC/DC songs get blocked worldwide EASILY. They will all have external audio, and some won't even have the song at all because I couldn't get past the copyright system. It's a bummer, but I gotta do what I gotta do to get those videos viewable. My Scores: https://www.scorehero.com/scores.php?...
