Tamis – Koncert pre gitaru [soul/funk, Slovakia 1983]

In 1979 students of the State conservatory in Bratislava founded band “Tamis”. Many successful artists from the future appeared here for the first time. Peak of the band career was their appereance in the national competition of the biggest Czechoslovak festival “Bratislavská lýra” (The Lyre of Bratislava). They got into the competition with funky song “Koncert pre gitaru” written by Andrej Turok and Stanislav Jenis. Funk was the major style produced by this band. Their only released song was this song from the festival. It is a nice piece influenced by the 80´s Afro-American soul music, disco, jazz and basic pop. The lead singer Berco Balogh later won the same competition in 1988 with other song ("Farbami dýcha noc"). His first piece created with “Tamis” became soon unknown. Anyway, it’s a nice piece of music of calm and chilled character.
