We sit down with Sachin Gupta, APAC Sales Leader, IBM Envizi Sustainability Software, to discuss how IBM Envizi is helping organisations tackle Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions, prepare for ASRS compliance, and turn sustainability into a competitive advantage. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ ABOUT OUR GUEST: Sachin Gupta leads sustainability transformation initiatives for IBM clients across the Asia Pacific region, helping organisations navigate the complex landscape of ESG reporting and emissions management. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ WHAT YOU'LL LEARN: Sustainability remains an evolving industry trend. There are ongoing developments in sustainability internationally, and geopolitics also plays a role. In this interview, Sachin shares insights on where the industry is heading and how organisations can stay ahead. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ KEY HIGHLIGHTS: Scope 3 Evolution – Scope 3 will be a continuous, complex cycle. The industry is comfortable with spend-based analysis, but is moving rapidly toward supplier-specific emissions and will shift significantly toward product carbon footprint calculations. Today, about 90% of clients do Scope 3 using spend-based analysis. Beyond Reporting – The talk is about making sustainability a business imperative and a competitive differentiator for the organisation, well beyond reporting. Sustainability Tracking Benefits – Organisations can compare facilities and optimise operational costs. The tracking module not only reduces carbon emissions but also lowers costs. AI-Powered Sustainability – WatsonX, IBM's AI platform, is getting embedded into Envizi. A lot of AI features within Envizi, whether it is Scope 3, financed emissions, or using AI to do spend-based analysis, WatsonX is already embedded. Climate Risk Insights – Organisations are recognising that weather events are becoming more frequent and severe. They don't want to leave it to chance. There is no country today that is not experiencing these weather events, and no organisation that is not bearing the brunt of it. ASRS & Finance Integration – As markets and organisations mature, they are seeing that sustainability needs to be embedded in their financial risk modelling. Sustainability is becoming more embedded, and collaboration with finance departments is essential to clarify what it really means from a risk management perspective. What Drives Sustainability Adoption – It's not purely regulatory. Organisations today want to play a stewardship role in planet well-being, sustainable sourcing, and sustainable consumption. Most organisations are led by senior leadership, boards, and executives who are driven to do the right things for the planet, for themselves, for the countries where they operate, and for their employees.
