Learn the English Phrases IT SLIPPED MY MIND and ON MY MIND - A Short English Lesson with Subtitles

Read along to practice your English and to learn the English phrases IT SLIPPED MY MIND and ON MY MIND In this English lesson, I wanted to help you learn the English phrase, "It slipped my mind." When you say it slipped my mind, what you're really saying is that you forgot something. Let's imagine that it was my mom's birthday yesterday. It wasn't, but let's just imagine it was my mom's birthday. And let's say I forgot to call her and I forgot to wish her a Happy Birthday. Today, Jen could say to me, "Hey, did you call your mom yesterday, it was her birthday." And I could reply by saying, "Ah no, it slipped my mind." Simply meaning that I forgot to call her. You can emphasize this a bit more by saying things like, "It totally slipped my mind" or "It completely slipped my mind." But certainly if you say, "It slipped my mind." you're simply admitting that you forgot something. WANT MORE ENGLISH LESSONS? When you say that something is on your mind, it means you are thinking about it. When you say that someone is on your mind, it means that you are thinking about them. So if I was to say that, all of my viewers, all of you who are learning English, "You're always on my mind, when I'm thinking about "what to teach you next." I'm always trying to figure out, what would my viewers like to learn next. What should my next English lesson be about? So, at certain points during the week, all of you are certainly on my mind. So to review, if you say to someone that something slipped your mind, if you say, "Ah, that totally slipped my mind", or if you say, "Ah, that completely slipped my mind." It means that you just forgot about it. And if something is on your mind, or if someone is on your mind, it means that you are thinking about them. But hey, let's look at a comment from a previous video. This was a great comment, this was from Eduardo. And Eduardo said, "I need a new notebook, nice phrases Bob." and then a thumbs up. And I said, "Nice, you've filled one already? "That's great." So that was great to hear Eduardo, thanks for leaving the comment and letting me know that. It's cool to hear that, if I'm understanding you correctly, it's cool to hear that you've already filled up a notebook. That as you are studying English and as you watch my videos and probably other videos, you're kind of keeping notes. You're writing things down as you continue to learn new things. So, I do feel bad that you need to go buy a new notebook, because you have to spend some money, but at the same time, I think it's really cool that you've filled a notebook. I think I'm understanding you correctly. Hopefully your dog didn't chew up your notebook, hopefully you didn't lose your notebook. Hopefully you need a new notebook because you've been learning lot's of phrases from me and from other people. So, anyways, awesome Eduardo. Thanks for leaving that comment. I think I can count on one hand the number of short English lessons I've done for this channel in my house, but here I am in my house. The reason I'm in my house is because it's extremely windy outside. Like, crazy windy. And the rain is kind of coming sideways. It's not raining a lot, but the rain is coming really fast and a little bit sideways. And it kinda hurts when it hits you so it's not a good time to be making a video outside. So, I'm doing it inside. Besides, sometimes when I make a video outside, the wind noise makes it hard for you to hear me. So, anyways, Bob the Canadian here.
