ROUTE & INFRA Details :— Today's journey is on the Unique Route of Indian Railways,i.e., Nerul-Uran Suburban Route.This route is also known as Nerul/Belapur CBD-Uran route coz. Local train Services starts from Nerul & Belapur CBD both stations and goes to Uran. Lines from Nerul & Belapur CBD, merge near before Targhar station. This entire Nerul/Belapur-Uran route comes under the Harbour line of Mumbai Suburban/Local train network. This route is only operated for Mumbai Suburban/Local train services. Operated by Mumbai Division of Central railway. This route is also known as the Port line bcz, the entire route runs beside Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust/JNPT [ India's Largest Port ]. D.B Patil International Airport or Navi Mumbai International airport/NMIA terminal 1 building can also be seen from the train and also accessible from Targhar station on the route. Targhar station is the closest station to access Navi Mumbai International Airport. Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Setu can also be seen while crossing Panvel Creek bridge on the right side of the train heading to Uran and also accessible from and closest to Kharkopar station. Targhar and Gavan are the new stations operational from 15th December,2025. After Crossing Gavan station( heading to Uran), Western dedicated freight corridor/WDFC lines comes/starts from Dadri(Delhi)-Palghar-Vaitarna & Panvel meet on the below left side of train & crosses below the Railway bridge/ Railway flyover and goes/ends to JNPT Port( on the right side of the train heading to Uran). (Gavan-Shematikhar-Nava Sheva) of this route is the closest to JNPT Port & the Port is clearly from the train as the distance is about 2-3 Kms from the Port. So that's why, It's also known as the Port line. Many Containers Freight Stations/ Yard can be seen beside of this line. Uran is the last/Terminal station of this Route. Train service ends& starts from there only. This is also the line which goes to upcoming Mumbai 3.0 as it connects the region of Kharkopar,Gavan, Nhava Sheva, Dronagiri & Uran railway stations to vashi- Kurla -MUMBAI CSMT(Central line) via Harbour line & airoli-ghansoli-thane (Central line) via Trans Harbour line & Bandra-Andheri-Goregaon(Western railways) via Harbour line,coz, both Nerul & Belapur stations are connected with Harbour & Trans Harbour line. In upcoming years, this region will be developed to upcoming Mumbai 3.0 and Dronagiri is the main hub of Mumbai 3.0.
