October 3rd 2022 UK SCPN Cosmetics Portal changes: CAS numbers, ingredients etc How we are doing it

On October 3rd 2022, the UK Government cosmetics portal changed and as a result any new cosmetics products being notified will have to be uploaded in a slightly different (and rather annoying) way. Prior to 3rd October 2022, when adding a product to the UK SCPN, you could simply add a pdf file of your recipe, showing all ingredients. This is now not possible. Each ingredient now has to be listed and manually entered for each new product you have. There are also some further changes in regards to adding CAS numbers for ingredients and confirming whether they are poisonous or not. All of these changes are rather frustrating (even more so as they have come out at what is arguably the busiest time of the year). I personally also feel the new portal requirements have a few basic flaws (not being able to duplicate base recipes, making everything a little too complicated and scientific for the average small business man/woman etc). Today, I am taking you through how we are adding our products to the portal using the new format. I can't stress enough that this is purely a demonstration of how we are adding products and it is not how I am saying it should definitely be done - we are all new to this and it is quite possible that I may be adding something in an incorrect way, so please don't take my word as gospel! It is purely intended to help anyone who may be struggling and hopefully show those of you new to things a little about the process!
