More action from our joint ringing outing with the LACR Lancaster branch, which brings me to two towers I haven't rung at yet. These two used to be Yorkshire, but nowadays Lancashire. The first of the two is St Peter and St Paul's Church, Bolton by Bowland, a 13cwt 6 tuned to F which is the result of an augmentation job in 2005, but they are so quiet in the ground floor ringing chamber, that a microphone in the belfry is installed to speakers downstairs. The second is St Mary the Virgin's Church, Gisburn, a light 9cwt 6 tuned to A on the A59. These bells are Whitechapel cast, originally in 1818, but 2 and 4 were recast in 1964 by the same foundry. However, the same sound problems at Bolton by Bowland aren't present in Gisburn!! The tower is shorter and not a GF ring!
