Chicago has a (kinda) public bike share system called Divvy, which can be used anywhere within the city of Chicago. And O'Hare, while technically part of Chicago, can't be reached by road without leaving Chicago for a while. As a result, many chicagoans assume that Divvy biking to the airport is impossible or even against the ToS, and stick to using the Blue Line or Uber to get to the airport...until now! Motivation: Biking to the airport with a personal bike is hard: You have to lock it outside for days or weeks, you don't know if the weather will be good when you return, and if your returning flight is at night it'll be harder to ride home. But Divvy bikes can be used for one-way travel! Spoilers: You can't park an unpowered divvy bike at O'Hare because there are no bike racks, but the divvy e-bikes can be parked at any public bike rack, so I took an e-bike. I thought the bike would lose power once we left Chicago, but it remained (at least partially) powered the whole way. The roads near the airport were not really bike-friendly, but traffic was calmer than usual so it didn't feel too dangerous.
