Paddle Boarding Barron Canyon | Algonquin Backcountry Camping

Backcountry paddle boarding Barron Canyon in Algonquin Provincial Park. Portaging paddle boards, camping in the backcountry, and exploring High Falls on a multi-day SUP adventure. This was my third backcountry paddle board trip, and this time we took on the iconic Barron Canyon route. We travelled one way from Grand Lake at Achray Campground to Squirrel Rapids, paddling through calm stretches, dramatic red rock canyon walls, and tackling multiple portages with fully loaded boards. It’s one of the park’s most recognizable routes, and yes, you can absolutely do it on a paddle board. Along the way, we set up camp in the backcountry, carried our boards across portages, and stopped at High Falls, including the natural water slides.
