Claude is a dissatisfied man who decides to work as a contract killer for Mr. Brink in order to earn enough money to buy a $28,000 house quickly. After showing his worth by murdering targets in a barbershop and a hospital for a Mr. Moon, whom he later kills at Brink's request, Claude is given a contract to assassinate a witness in a high-profile trial in Los Angeles that begins in two weeks. At first calm about the assignment, spending the first several days sightseeing to see if his handlers, George and Marc, are being followed, Claude becomes agitated when he discovers the witness in question is a woman, Billie Williams; in his opinion, women are more difficult to kill than men because they are "unpredictable". Claude scrambles to find a means to assassinate Billie, who never leaves her heavily secured home. After two attempts, Claude believes he has murdered her, but later learns that he has erroneously killed a policewoman, and the police have covered it up to prevent additional attempts on Billie's life.
