For most of my life, tweed amps existed in a strange category for me. Important. Foundational. Historically significant. But never something I personally chased. The Fender 5E3 Tweed Deluxe is one of the most famous circuits ever built. It shows up on countless records, inspired decades of amp designs, and helped define the sound of electric guitar. And yet for years I respected it more than I understood it. So when my friend Alex let me live with his Fender ’57 Custom Deluxe for a few weeks, I didn’t want to make a quick demo. I wanted to figure out why this amp still matters. What I discovered surprised me. This isn’t an amp that impresses you with features or headroom. It’s an amp that comes alive when everything interacts - the guitar, the circuit, and your hands. And once you understand how the volumes work, how the channels interact, and how the amp responds to touch… the whole thing starts to make sense. In this video we explore: What the 5E3 circuit actually is Why the volume controls behave the way they do Channel jumping and how it changes the feel Why this amp feels so interactive under your hands Telecaster vs SG into a Tweed Deluxe Cranked tweed tone Pedals with a 5E3 Sometimes the most interesting gear isn’t the most complex. Sometimes it’s the simplest circuit that still refuses to behave like anything else. And that’s exactly what makes the Tweed Deluxe special. ═══════════════════════════ Gear Used in This Video: Fender AVRI Blackguard - Twisted Tele neck pickup and tapped Seymour Duncan custom shop 53 bridge pickup Gibson 61 Reissue SG - Decoboom pickguard UA Max compressor Kingtone Heavy Hand V2 Warm Audio WA-C1 Belle Epoch Deluxe Strymon Flint Fender Custom Shop '57 5E3 Tweed Deluxe ═══════════════════════════ Accessories I Use: D’Addario NYXL 10–52 Ernie Ball Mondo Slinkies 10.5–52 Decoboom pickguards Tascam Model 12 Aston Origin Shure SM57 ═══════════════════════════ Camera & Recording Gear: Sony FX3 + Sony 24–70mm f/2.8 GM II Sony A7IV + Sigma Sport 70–200mm f/2.8 Fuji X-T4 + Fuji 16–55mm f/2.8 Aputure 600D Aputure Light Dome 150 ═══════════════════════════ #guitartone #Stratvstele #singlecoil #stratocaster #telecaster ═══════════════════════════ Timestamps: 0:00 Intro 0:21 Tweed Deluxe 0:56 What It Is 1:26 Blackguard Into Tweed 1:45 Historical Context 2:29 Tele Into Tweed 2:54 How The Volume Knobs Work 5:12 Humbuckers With The Tweed 5:37 SG Into Tweed 6:24 Cranked Tweed! 7:35 Using Pedals With A Tweed 7:57 Slapback - Belle Epoch Deluxe 8:18 Spring Reverb - Strymon Flint 9:45 Bluesbreaker - Kingtone Heavy Hand V2
