TRANSCRIPT I’m Wafa Basha, a student in the Lebanese University. I’m 21 years old and I major in social sciences. I intend to complete my master's studies in psychosocial counseling and guidance. I started as a volunteer and trainee with Anera in 2019. Today, I’m part of the peace through sports program. I chose psychosocial counseling to help me reach my goal of establishing an association that helps children with Down syndrome. My goal didn’t appear out of nowhere. My brother has “love” syndrome. My experience with him showed me that people with Down syndrome have a lot of potential that should be developed. My project was delayed because of a lack of finances and moral support, and a lack of strong experts in this field. My project's main goal is not only to develop their skills, but also to assist them in entering the job market because their abilities are equivalent to ours. Children with Down syndrome are a gift from God. If we don't open this gift, we'll never know what potential lies within. The same goes for any kid. Parents can't help their children grow and integrate into society in a healthy way if they don't identify their potential.
