My aim with this beautiful old dresser was to create an Autumnal finish using a mix of Annie Sloan paints. I knew that I wanted copper leaf so I used paints I knew would compliment and work well with the leaf. I base coated the whole dresser with two coats of Oxford Navy. let this Dry thoroughly. I then used a ragging paint technique where I applied paints in small sections and blended them and moved them on the piece using a dry and wet rag.....I used plenty of water to help move the paint. The water allows the paint to settle in the details and gives it so much depth and interest. After the whole piece had been ragged with my initial 3 colours I let this dry completely. I then added some metallic acrylic paint and some water to an old spray bottle and sprayed the piece to give it low lights in certain areas. Again letting it dry overnight I proceeded to stamp on a floral pattern using the IOD peonies and Chrysanthemums stamps. I used ink to do this and painted the flowers with the gilding adhesive ( size) So follow me whilst I apply my copper and see how the effect is stunning and simple to do. I then added some more Oxford Navy and then some greens and blues just to tone down the oranges.. I finished the piece with some copper gilding polish. Then I lacquered the piece to seal it... Here's everything I used Annie Sloan Paint Oxford Navy ( base) Primer. Red Barcelona Orange Honfleur Various sizes of rags 3 inch oval brush. small brushes to apply watered down paint Then for The florals Copper Leaf Gilding Adhesive IOD stamps peonies and chrysanthemums A small arty Brush A large soft brush To add depth Annie Sloan Provence Antibes green Gilding polish copper Some more Oxford Navy Small square pallet knife Cut in brush and Furniture lacquer And I think that I've listed everything I'm really happy to answer any questions you may have about what I did to create this piece.
