Episode 1170 It’s Easter Monday on the street and the day of Emily (Eileen Derbyshire) & Ernie's (Stephen Hancock) long awaited wedding. Ernie has ditched the facial hair once and for all but is having doubts after learning what happened between Emily & Swindley (Arthur Lowe) 8 years before. Emily is on cloud nine as she gets ready. Ena (Violet Carson) comes across Ernie at the chapel and tries to reassure him that Emily wants to marry him. The guests arrive including Esther Hayes (Daphne Oxenford), Norah Seddon (Cynthia Michaelis) and Mavis Riley (Thelma Barlow). Stan (Bernard Youens) is tasked with making sure Ernie arrives for the ceremony but Ernie delays by making the driver (Cyril Varley) circle the block repeatedly. Annie (Doris Speed) and Len (Peter Adamson) reminisce about Jack (Arthur Leslie). Despite the delay Emily remains optimistic as Stan tries to convince Ernie to go and get married.
