In this video, I will be upgrading the CPU, SSD & the RAM in my 2010 21.5 inch iMac. I will show in detail how to install these new components and remove the old parts from the machine, as well as how to avoid logic board misalignment which was a re-occurring issue I had when re-assembling the machine. To avoid misalignment - go to 32:52 This video took about 7 days to film, edit and perform the upgrades themselves, so please remember to : SUBSCRIBE, LIKE & HIT THE BELL (so you don't miss a new upload) would be massively appreciated. Also be sure to check out my other videos on this 2010 iMac, I have a initial thoughts video and a review. (The review will be coming soon). List of Parts & some quick advice for the build : The SSD, OWC Thermal Sensor & RAM are relatively simple jobs to undertake yourself. The CPU upgrade is a lot more time consuming and is more difficult. CPU : I used an Intel Core i5 680 in this video because it was the max CPU that Apple sold for the 21.5 inch iMac. Just type the CPU in on eBay & you will find the listings. You could also search for an i7 870s but they are very difficult to find & buy, Apple also didn't sell the iMac with this processor & I have not personally tried to see whether it works properly or not, though in theory it should work just find. LINKS: If I haven't put the links for your country, then please just click on either the UK or US links where you will see the name of the product, you can then enter this into your native Amazon (eBay for the CPU) & you should find the product you are looking for.
