If you run out of flight guage and come to a complete stop, say goodbye to 1000 extra points. I also couldn't believe I made the last 2000 before the goal ring work. Normally, I would grind on the rail allowing me to quickly jump and homing attack to the platform with the turtle. Since I missed the rail here, I had to hope that ground momentum would be enough for me to jump and homing attack over to the platform.
