The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has highlighted rising temperatures across the country, signaling a shift in climate patterns. Mumbai recorded 38.7°C on February 26, nearly six degrees above normal, marking the first major spike. While the IMD warned of heatwave conditions, states initially held back on official declarations. However, as temperatures continued to soar past 37°C, several coastal states formally declared heatwave conditions, underscoring the growing impact of climate change.
