Temple Pond Cleaning Sri Balaji Venkateswara Swamy Temple Community Service - Part 1

Yugandhar is a young activist who decided to restore the glory of traditional/ heritage buildings, temples and ponds in the country. He is inspiring several like minded people to join this process, through social media and actual cleaning up actions on the ground at identified sites/ locations. He identifies the places where such beautiful heritage structures are neglected and calls for action for restoring them. Several volunteers join this process and there is a slow change in the attitude of local communities in the way they maintain these heritage places. Recently, Yugandhar organized a cleaning session/ event of a step well near Ramanujapur, near Shamshabad - which is about 30 km from , Hyderabad air port. I had an opportunity join this event and understand this process. I truely appreciate the energy and commitment of Yugandhar in this process of restoring heritage buildings. I request all of you to join this process of restoring our heritage building. Grama Panchayat members, local farmers, businessmen and several volunteers from Hyderabad joined this event and cleared all the bushes/ garbage in and around this beautiful step well. The local community members were happy that this step well got attention from several volunteers from Hyderabad and happily joined the process of cleaning up this beautiful step well. The Balaji temple in the village offers a serene and pious ambience for pilgrims. The role of pilgrims is not very positive - as local community members indicated that several pilgrims through garbage in and around the temple and the step well without any responsibility. This is a request to all pilgrims/ tourists/ local people - please do not throw garbage/ plastics around our common places - heritage structures. This behavior is an insult to our culture and heritage. We all should congratulate Yugandhar and his team for taking up this initiative and pushing the agenda forward.
