In this short video, Cassandra, aka The Digi Dame Graphic Designer, explains what colour profiles are in graphic design and how they are used. This information is helpful to small business owners who are working with a graphic designer for their branding or design project and don't understand the differences between colour systems, formats or profiles. If you have recently commenced working with a graphic designer or printer, you could be forgiven for feeling confused when you hear terms such as CMYK and RGB. These abbreviations identify colour profiles that are used in design and print. These colour formats consist of different types of colour processing which are used for different purposes, such as colour in print and digital colour for screens. Your designer should take care of all the correct colour formatting for you. However, if they ask you questions about the colour formats of any current files you need to share with them, or they refer to colour profiles in general in the course of your design project, it may leave you feeling confused. If this all sounds overwhelming, hopefully this video will help to set things straight for you. Let’s look at the different colour formats and how they’re used.
