In response, Zionists have labeled critics as racists and antisemites, and sought to suppress Palestinian activism and anti-Zionism under the guise of combating racism. This has made the fight for Palestinian rights not just about changing public opinion, but also about safeguarding the right to express dissent without fear of censorship or prosecution. Many students around the world engaging in protests on university campuses, have faced restrictions, expulsion threats, and even violent dispersal by law enforcement. Many universities are unwilling to hear out or understand the crucial arguments being made by activists. However, the University of Manchester, in order to help clarify this topic, are hosting a crucial debate on October 31, 2024, at 7 pm. This debate was open to the public and aims to weigh the arguments for Zionism and Palestinian rights, allowing attendees to decide whether anti-Zionism equates to antisemitism, and the right for Palestinian activism to be supported by the authorities, not supressed.
