Cementitious bound three-quarter inch to 1/2 inch clean clear stone as a base under segmental permeable paving. Porous concrete can be very strong, depending on the percentage of cement in the mix and the hardness and shape of the aggregates. The problem is the ability to maintain the porous nature of the material. Clogging from dirt and debris in the environment is almost impossible to remediate. But as a base with a bedding layer of ASTM number eight stone and a wearing course of individual units with a pronounced joint it really shines. Stabilizing the base under segmental permeable pavement with cement treated base (CYB) or biaxial Geogrid can improve the strength, long-term and short term of the pavement.
