Mass effect on the adjacent cerebral parenchyma and right lateral ventricle (yellow overlay) has produced contralateral midline shift (indicated by dashed line). The hematoma does not cross the coronal or the lambdoid suture. A scalp hematoma is present (red overlay), and a fracture of the underlying right parietal bone (green circle) is visible on the bone window image. A biconvex hyperdense extra-axial collection limited by skull suture lines is the characteristic presentation of an EDH. The majority of patients with an EDH have an associated skull fracture.
