The late, great Bill Hicks expounds upon the first trial in the case of (the now very sadly deceased) Mr. Rodney King, and the infamous LA riots of 1992. Mr. King was subjected to a brutal attack at the hands of the LAPD, in which he was beaten viciously with batons for several minutes, kicked in the head, and even tasered twice. Unbeknown to either Mr. King or the police, though, a resident of area, Mr. George Holliday, recorded the entire episode on his camcorder. However, although once the video came to light, four police officers were charged immediately in relation to the incident on the basis of this solid evidence of their appalling misconduct (the tape also proved that they had been somewhat less than truthful about Mr. King supposedly being "aggressive" and requiring restraint, for it shows him simply lying face down on the ground as the officers beat him), at the first hearing to take place, all four were acquitted and walked away free, unpunished, men. The rioting erupted a mere matter of hours after the trial, as knowledge of the verdict became widespread.
