Leica D Lux 8 or Ricoh GRIII as the most powerful pocket option. I’ve been shooting with the Ricoh GR III for years, and the Leica D Lux 8 has been in my bag for over a year now. After plenty of real-world use, I wanted to put these two compact legends side by side and give you my take. In this video, I compare the Ricoh GR III vs Leica D Lux 8 across 10 key categories, sensor performance, lens options, autofocus, stabilization, handling, battery life, and overall vibe. If you’re into street photography, travel, or just looking for a solid compact camera, this one’s for you. The GR III is known for its 24MP APS-C sensor, built-in image stabilization, and sharp 28mm lens. It’s fast, discreet, fits in your pocket, and is designed for pure photography with no distractions. Snap focus is a weapon on the street, and it’s hard to beat when you want speed and simplicity. Now the Leica D Lux 8,I’ve been using it for over a year and it’s grown on me a lot. It gives you a 24 to 75mm zoom lens, built-in EVF, classic Leica styling, and real manual dials that feel amazing to use. The sensor is Micro Four Thirds, cropped down to 17MP, but image quality is still solid, and the flexibility of the zoom is a huge plus when you don’t want to be locked to one focal length. Here’s the truth — both are amazing, but for different reasons. The Ricoh GR III is perfect for street, fast and minimal. It disappears in your hand, starts up instantly, and just gets out of the way so you can focus on the shot. The Leica D Lux 8 feels more like a mini Q. It’s fun to use, gives you that zoom range for more flexibility, and it just looks and feels beautiful to shoot with. In this video I’ll walk you through: 10 point comparison with real examples Strengths and weaknesses of each camera Who each one is made for Real sample photos from both No specs overload here , this is based on how they shoot, how they feel, and how they fit into real shooting situations.
