Coffee Pot - Driver: Hayden Hart, Fireman: Mark Grimshaw, Loco Inspector: Bill Bennett, The Pichi Richi Railway Preservation Society is an entirely voluntary organisation dedicated to the preservation Of Australia's most ambitious operating railway museum. Railway workshops and operations are based at Quorn in South Australia's Flinders Ranges. The steam coach was built at Leeds, England, in 1905, and is the only one of its type left in the world today. It operated between Quorn and Port Augusta and Quorn and Hawker until 1928 when it was retired. It is the Society's intention to renovate this coach so that it can again operate in Pichi Richi Pass. It is extremely well built, and due to the Commonwealth Railways keeping a good coat of paint on this vehicle over the years, it is remarkably well preserved. A big vote of thanks goes to our Patron, Mr. K.A. Smith, for his foresight in preserving this vehicle and for making this truly unique steam motor coach available to the Society. We are sure that when it is again operational it will prove to be a big tourist draw card for us.
