In this episode, I install Yellow Dog Linux 3.0 on a 1999 Key Lime iBook G3 and revisit a fascinating moment when Apple hardware and third-party Linux briefly intersected in an official way. Back in 2002, Terra Soft Solutions even struck a deal with Apple to resell Macs with Yellow Dog Linux pre-installed - all while Mac OS X 10.0 “Cheetah” was still finding its footing. It’s a small time capsule from the PowerPC era, and a reminder that the Mac platform once had more alternative operating system stories than many people remember.
