For the chorus section, both the studio recording and the live version of this song use an octave +1 pitch shifting pedal effect (you know, like a Digitech Whammy). Being mindful that few people actually own these kinds of pedals, I adapted the chorus so it can be played without it. This does make the song harder to play. But unless you have one of these pedals around, you're out of luck. If you do however, then check the link in the tips below. Tips for Guitar #1: For the 7th fret in the low E string, make sure you use your fretting hand's thumb. That is how they play it live. If this is too hard for you then read the next tip. You can ignore the low E string throughout the song and just play the remaining strings. It won't sound exactly the same, but it sure gets the job done! Do you own a pitch shifting pedal? You've just made the song a lot easier to play then. Check this link for tabs: https://pastebin.com/upNvR2BD For large portions of the song, the notes you hit with your picking hand don't have to precisely match the ones represented in the tab. Go wild! Experiment! This is punk-rock after all. You might notice throughout the song that the x on the G string that some of the riffs include does tend to play a harmonic. It's accidental, but it fits into the song just fine. Song by Idles, from Brutalism, released March 10, 2017. • IDLES - MOTHER (Official Video) Tab symbols used: b - Bend the string.
