Under the leadership of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, a major crackdown on drug trafficking has been carried out in Amritsar. In a strong action, the district administration along with Commissionerate Police demolished an illegally constructed property linked to a drug smuggler in Subhash Colony, Batala Road. According to Police Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar, the demolished property belonged to Mukhtar Singh, who has multiple cases registered under the NDPS Act. Authorities revealed that the property was built using money earned through drug trafficking. The Municipal Corporation demolished the structure spread over approximately 80 square yards as part of the ongoing anti-drug अभियान. Punjab Police reiterated its zero tolerance policy against drug smugglers and warned that any property built from illegal drug money will not be spared. Citizens have also been encouraged to share information about drug activities, with rewards up to ₹10 lakh for credible inputs. Under the “War Against Drugs” campaign, from March 1, 2025 to March 16, 2026: 1877 cases registered 3321 accused arrested 280+ kg drugs seized (heroin, opium, ice, ganja, charas, cocaine) Lakhs of capsules and injections recovered ₹3+ crore drug money seized 136 vehicles confiscated This action sends a strong message that the Punjab Government is serious about eliminating the drug menace from the state.
