First Take Songs: Trouble on the Dark Side (Original) Feat. Ian Cromwell

#FirstTakeSongs The Challenge: One song a week. No cuts, no second takes. Just me, the songs I wrote, the ones I wish I did, and the lessons I'm learning. The Why: Because sometimes one take is all you need, and other times, one take is all you get. I started this series to celebrate my imperfections, share my progression, and learn some lovely lessons. Today's Lesson Learned: There is absolutely no shame in messing up, or messing around - that’s where so many gems are found. We shot this while Marlon was finding focus - it was off the cuff, spontaneous, and 9am (which is not the ideal time to belt out a song). Embracing the ‘mistakes’ can mean that there are some gems in there for Ian’s music video (which is what we were filming that day). I love this first take. It was tough to release, which means it’s the right thing for me to do.
